Harrison “Harry Baba” Nwozo ,CEO of Tribe X Entertainment and Dj Manixx, his partner and collaborator on the internationally successful Green October Mixtapes series, joined together to make a concept of African Unity in video, a reality.
Armed with the idea, Harry Baba went ahead and emailed several talented artists who immediately jumped on the idea and agreed to join in the project. There was Tonestar (CEO of the Fly Musik Group), who also wore the hat of executive producer, song mixer and mastering, and video director; Jay Cube the crooner/singer of the group O2 (Oxygen Two); and QD who wrote and sang the hook (QD also wrote the intro). Rapper PSean, the other half of the group O2; Rapper Blakka P, of W.A.F (West African Family music group); Rapper/Singer, Naomi Achu who raps in French and English; Songstress Rafiya, who sang her verse in French (but also sings in English); and Pa J who represented with his Afro-Reggae/Dancehall style. Tonestar, O2, QD and Pa J are all of Nigerian origin while Blakka P is from Sierra Leone, and Naomi Achu is from Cameroon. Rafiya is from the Democratic Republic of Congo.
The concept of the song, “Africans” is an extension of Harry Baba’s Green October vision of promoting African unity through music. “African unity is a reality”, said Harry Baba. “The goal of this song is to show and remind ourselves how unity amongst us is an objective that is not difficult to achieve. I hope this song inspires the listeners enough to share it on every website, blog and forum, having the whole world sing along to the infectious hook…
The talent is teeming in the video. But don’t take our word for it, watch it for yourself and decide.
